Rendering maestro Theophilus Chin has just released these images, showing a possible new Proton Satria Neo based on the Geely GS Sport. In all likelihood, chances of a new Proton three-door hatchback being built are slim, but it’s still a mighty interesting idea to explore.

The Satria Neo was launched in 2006 to replace the original Satria. It remained in production until the end of 2015, when it was discontinued due to poor sales. In the nine years, however, the model amassed a cult following among Proton fans and driving enthusiasts alike, helped by halo models such as limited-number Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing and the Neo S2000.

For now, Proton has confirmed that an SUV based on the Geely Boyue is in the pipeline, as part of the company’s deal with the Chinese automaker. A new Satria Neo, which will not be a best-seller, let’s be honest, seems an unlikely future project for now.
