At the
Suzuki Rally Trophy in Rally di Roma 2016, Suzuki Italy unveiled a completely
stripped out, rally-spec Suzuki Baleno SR driven by the country’s rally
champion Renato Travaglia.
The
cleared-out interior features racing bucket seats with 6-point harness and
steering wheel provided by Sparco, fire extinguisher, hydraulic handbrake
supplied by Tecno 2, Öhlins suspension and an exhaust system custom made by
Gliese Engineering.
Under
the hood is Suzuki’s 1.0L Boosterjet three-cylinder petrol engine which, in
stock configuration, produces 112 hp and 170 Nm of torque. Suzuki Motorsport
has not revealed the power figures of the Baleno SR, although they claim that
the figures are close to the Suzuki Swift Sport R1 rally car.
With the
Baleno SR, Suzuki confirms its dynamic presence in motorsport competitions and
hopes to make motorsports more affordable and accessible to all, particularly
young drivers.
