A new brand has entered the Malaysian kapchai scene,
the 2017 SM Sport 110R, which comes with a recommended retail price of
RM 4,015.28, including GST, but excluding road tax, registration and insurance.
This budget-price utility underbone motorcycle has 30% local content, and
expected to have 60% in two-years time.

Holdings, local distributor for Benelli, Keeway and SYM – and Qian Jiang
Motorcycle, which is owner of the Benelli brand, the SM Force is a Malaysian
brand which is intended for both the local and export markets. The 110 R is
intended to be the first of a series of motorcycle models which are currently
in the design process.
Carrying a 109 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, Euro
3 compliant engine, the SM Force 110R puts out 6.4 hp at 7,500 rpm and 7 Nm of
torque at 7,000 rpm. A rotary four-speed gearbox, which goes from neutral
through the four gears to neutral again, is used to get power to the ground.
Braking is with a single 220 mm diameter disc in
front, mounted to an machined alloy wheel carrying a tubeless 17-inch tyre in
front, while a drum does the duties at the back. Under the seat, a four-litre
fuel tank can be found, along with a 10-litre storage compartment which also
contains a USB charging port.
Weighing in at 105 kg dry, the SM Sport 110R has
both electric and kick-start, with conventional telescopic forks in front and
twin shock absorbers in the rear. Of note is the LED DRL in the front cowl, as
well as the LED turn signals and brake light.
The brake light is a twin element unit, with the
brake light and rear lights separated. There are three colour options available
for the 2017 SM Sport 110 R – Bumblebee Yellow, Ocean Blue and Ruby Red, while
availability is immediate from 300 MForce dealers nationwide.
MForce aims to sell an estimated 2,000 units of the
SM Sport 110R locally in 2017, with a further 8,000 units to be sold in export
destinations such as Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Singapore. Primary local competition
for the 2017 SM Sport 110R is the Yamaha Lagenda 115Z at RM 5,683 and the Honda
Wave Alpha at RM 4,927.
