The 2017 Yamaha
MT-09 Tracer has been launched by official distributor Hong Leong Yamaha
Malaysia, at a price of RM 52,000, including GST. Based on the MT-09 naked
sports bike, the locally assembled MT-09 Tracer adds a sports-touring
capability to Yamaha Malaysia’s range.
Carrying the same three-cylinder, 847 cc,
liquid-cooled Crossplane 3 power plant as the MT-09, the MT-09 Tracer produces
a claimed 115 hp at 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm torque at 8,500 rpm, which doesn’t
make it a slouch in the power stakes. Power gets to the ground via a six-speed
gearbox and final drive is by chain.
Standard for the MT-09 Tracer is ABS braking and
traction control, both items which are becoming standard for machines above 600
cc these days. Weighing in at 190 kg, the MT-09 Tracer falls nicely into the
weight bracket for an almost litre-class sports-tourer, and comes with brackets
ready to accept luggage.
The 2017 Yamaha MT-09 Tracer complements to MT-09,
and further down the range, the Yamaha MT-07, and carries fuel in an 18-litre
tank. Availability of the MT-09 Tracer at authorised Hong Leong Yamaha dealers
is from next week, and two colour options are available, Yamaha Blue and Matte
Grey.
Currently, the 2016 Yamaha MT-09 retails at
RM 44,653, while the 2017 Yamaha MT-07 goes for RM 36,795. All prices include
GST, but exclude road tax, registration and number plates.
