An official release by the California Air Resources
Board (CARB) states that the 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 will carry a 1,262 cc
V-twin, probably an evolution of the Testastretta 11 DVT engine used in the
2017 XDiavel and 2016 Multistrada 1200, as well as other models in the Ducati
range. While no power figures were published, the XDiavel puts out 154 hp and
the Multistrada 1200 158 hp, so the larger bore 1260 can be expected to produce
something above the 160 hp mark.
There were certification filings with CARB for three
versions of the 2018 Multistrada 1260 – a base model Multistrada, a Multistrada
S and a Pikes Peak version – much the same as the current Multistrada line-up,
excepting the Multistrasa Enduro which is a current year model. According to a
motorcycle.com report, the CARB executive order does not reveal any other
information.
We expect more news closer to the EICMA show in
Italy this Novemeber about the 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260.
