Indianautosblog reader caught a couple of camouflaged
Renault Captur (Renault Kaptur) prototypes at a fuel station filling diesel.
Despite the camouflage, several design elements of the the SUV that is already
listed in Russia and Colombia are clearly visible.
The Renault Captur has its C-shaped LED daytime
running lights placed in the front bumper turned on. The presence of it with
the 5-spoke alloy wheels and projector headlamps indicate this could be the top
end RxZ trim.
Captur is
expected with the Duster’s 1.5 L K9K Diesel unit. It is likely to come with the
6-speed manual at launch, and eventually an automatic transmission. Keeping the
premium nature of the upcoming SUV in mind, Renault might opt for a 6-speed
Dual Clutch automatic transmission instead of the Duster’s 6-speed Easy-R AMT.
Whether Renault offers the Captur petrol with a 1.6 L unit or the 1.5 L H4K
unit that powers the Duster remains to be seen. The former favours performance,
while the latter is more fuel efficient.
The cabin of the Captur features seating for five
along with a cargo volume of 387 litres. It features a 7-inch MediaNAV
touchscreen infotainment system borrowed from the Duster. Other features on
offer include a single zone automatic climate control system and a digital
speedo along with body colour highlights on the dashboard.
Renault India will launch the Captur this festive
season. The price of the upcoming SUV could start at around INR 10 lakhs
(ex-showroom) stretching to around INR 14 lakhs. It will be a more premium
offering than the Duster challenging the Hyundai Creta.
