The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled is now available in
India. The bike draws inspiration from off road bikes plying the mountains and
deserts of California in the 60s and 70s. It was first unveiled at EICMA 2016.
Powering the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled is the 803
cc air cooled engine assisted by an oil cooler. The Euro 4 compliant mill gets
a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 75 hp of maximum power at
8,250 rpm and 68 Nm of peak torque at 5,750 rpm. The same engine also does duty
in the new Ducati Monster 797. The baby Monster was launched in India on June
14, 2017.
The new off road centric Scrambler’s powerplant has
been recalibrated to make the power delivery smoother. Most of the power will
be available at low engine speeds. It also gets a modified frame and suspension
setup. The headlamp gets a mesh guard while the mudguards have been positioned
higher than the standard Scrambler range. An engine skid plate will protect the
power unit from being bashed on uneven surfaces.
The Ducati
Scrambler Desert Sled has a different riding position thanks to 200 mm of
travel at both ends. The off road styled foot pegs get removable rubber pads. A
20 mm lower optional seat is also on offer. The bike is shod with Pirelli
Scorpion Rally STR tyres with a 19-inch unit in the front and a 17-inch unit in
the rear.
Brakes include a Brembo monobloc M4 32 caliper up
front on a 330 mm disc and a 245 mm disc in the rear with a 32 mm caliper.
Bosch 9.1 MP ABS system is a standard feature. The Scrambler Desert Sled is
available in Red Dusk and White Mirage body colours at INR 932,000 and INR
945,000 (ex-showroom) respectively.
Ducati India has also started accepting bookings for
the Euro 4 versions of the Ducati Scrambler Classic and Ducati Scrambler Icon
which have a price tag of INR 723,000 and INR 848,000 (ex-showroom)
respectively.
