Lambretta officially revealed their comeback
product, the Lambretta V Series, on 3 June 2017. The Italian scooter brand is
celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and was resurrected by Innocenti,
its manufacturing company. With its strong legacy in India and brands like
Vespa, Royal Enfield and Jawa on a comeback trail, the Lambretta V Special
could be an ideal model to relaunch the iconic Italian brand.
The new Lambretta V Special gets three engine
options, a carburetted 50 cc and fuel-injected 125 cc and 168.9 cc motors. The
scooter range gets LED headlight, LED taillamp, LED indicators and a 12 volt
charger. The LCD instrumentation gets Bluetooth connectivity. An integrated
glove box, side & main stand and luggage hook are standard. The scooter is
available with a fixed as well as flex front fender (V Special Flex).
The Lambretta V50 Special has a single cylinder, air
cooled, 49.5 cc mill producing 3.53 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 3.4 Nm of peak
torque at 6,500 rpm. The Lambretta V125 gets a 124.7 cc mill producing 10.19 PS
of power and 9.2 Nm of torque. The Lambretta V200 Special has a 168.9 cc
powerplant producing 12.10 PS of power and 12.5 Nm of torque.
Brakes include a 220 mm front disc and a drum setup
in the rear. Both the Lambretta V125 Special and Lambretta V200 Special get 220
mm disc at both ends. The smaller engine scooter gets CBS while the flagship
offering gets ABS. The scooter has been designed by Austrian design studio
Kiska which works with KTM and Husqvarna.
The Lambretta V Special measures 1,900 mm in length,
690 mm in width and 1,130 mm in height. The scooter has a seat height of 770 mm
and a 6.5 litre fuel tank. Prices will be announced closer to the launch later
this year in Europe.
