Jamiroquai's front man, Jay Kay, is known in the
automotive world for being well versed into cars and an avid collector. His personal collection includes a number of
vehicles; as far as Italian icons go, apart from the Kermit Green Ferrari
LaFerrari, there's also one from a different era: a Lancia Delta Integrale Evo
II.
Supplied new to Italy in 1994, the Integrale was
then imported to the United Kingdom some 6 years later, and it ended up in the
possession of the British singer and songwriter in 2009.
Jay Kay took great care of it ever since, and it was
earlier this year when he had it sent to some Lancia specialists to have its
engine rebuilt, after a misfire. Work include a block rebore, new forged
pistons and bearings, polished crankshaft bearing journals, and cylinder head
skimming.
Despite investing more than £ 8,000 (US$ 10,300) into
the engine rebuild, Jay Kay is now looking to depart with his Delta Integrale.
In charge of finding it a new home is SilverstoneAuctions, which listed it at
the auction that takes place on July 29-30, estimating that it will change
hands for £ 30,000-35,000 (US$ 38,612-45,048), plus a buyer's premium of 15
percent.
