The Maruti Baleno is available in four grades: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The CVT option was previously available only in the Delta and Zeta grades. Now, Baleno buyers can opt for CVT even in the top-end Alpha grade.

With the CVT option available in the Alpha grade now, Maruti Baleno CVT buyers no longer have to settle for a relatively less equipped Delta or Zeta grade. The Maruti Baleno comes with two four-cylinder engines: 1.2-litre VVT petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS 190 diesel. The petrol engine produces 83 hp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The diesel engine develops 74 hp at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on petrol and diesel, and the CVT option is exclusive to the former.

Maruti Suzuki is yet to update the NEXA website and Maruti Baleno brochure to reflect the new changes. Over the features of the Zeta CVT configuration, the Alpha 5MT configuration comes with projector headlamps with LED DRLs, Smartplay infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice control and reverse parking camera. The Alpha CVT configuration too should have these features.

The Maruti Baleno Alpha CVT is priced at INR 8.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It costs around INR 71,000 more than the Maruti Baleno CVT in Zeta grade.
