Skoda India plans to introduce the Monte Carlo variant this year. According to a report from Autocar India, the launch will take place this festive season. The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo is a regular model in the international markets. Whether it is that way in India or as a limited series remains a question. On the outside, it will feature a red body colour, and the grille, ORVMs, 16-inch alloy wheels and a tailgate spoiler – all painted black.

The interior of the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will also have a two-tone theme. Highlights will include unique aluminium scuff plates, faux carbon-fibre trim on the dashboard, flat-bottom steering wheel, exclusive floor mats and upholstery with red stitching on the gear knob, aluminium sport pedals and a mobile holder.

The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo is expected with the same engine and transmission choices as the standard variant. The regular Skoda Rapid is available in combinations of a 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine (105 PS/153 Nm) paired to a 5-speed manual/6-speed automatic transmission and a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine (110 PS/250 Nm) linked to a 5-speed manual/7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Monte Carlo variant is perhaps the perfect opportunity for Skoda India to introduce the 105 PS 1.2-litre TSI engine in the Rapid, but there’s no mention of that.

The Skoda Rapid starts at INR 8,20,250 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will command a premium of around INR 30,000 over the standard variant, as per the report. It could start at over INR 10 lakh (ex-showroom) if based on a higher grade.
