The Tata Nexon doesn’t have an AMT option, it gets
the TA6300 6-speed manual transmission as standard. However, according to a
report from Overdrive, Tata Motors will introduce an AMT option shortly.
Tata Motors said that they will introduce an AMT option “in the new
year or within the next few months”. The Nexon, however, will get a 6-speed
automated manual transmission.
The Tata Nexon measures 3,994 mm in length, 1,811 mm
in width and 1,607 mm in height. The B-SUV has a wheelbase of 2,498 mm and
offers a high ground clearance of 209 mm. It debuts a newly developed 1.5-litre
Revotorq diesel engine and an upgraded 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine. The
diesel engine produces 110 PS at 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm of torque from
1,500-2,750 rpm. The petrol engine develops 110 PS at 5,000 rpm and 170 Nm of
torque from 1,750-4,000 rpm. Both the engine models will get the AMT option.
Exterior highlights of the Tata Nexon include
projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. The
small SUV features power adjustable and retractable ORVMs, metallic grey roof
and keyless entry also. On the inside, it is equipped with automatic climate
control system, engine start-stop button, infotainment system with 6.5-inch HD
touch-screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration
compatibility and navigation, front armrest with storage space, rear armrest
with cupholders and rear AC vents.
Safety and driver assistance features of the Tata
Nexon include dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and
reverse camera. The sub-compact SUV is manufactured at the Tata Motors-FCA
India JV plant in Maharashtra. Dealerships have started accepting pre-orders
unofficially. Latest reports say that while display units will reach showrooms
soon, sales will begin only towards the end of September.
