UMW Toyota Motor is looking to
cash in on the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Challenge with a new special
edition variant of the Vios that’s now open for booking. The Toyota Vios Sports
Edition is inspired by the race cars that will take part in the series, fitted
with a number of sports accessories. Available in a single spec, the Sports
Edition is priced at RM 85,300 on-the-road without insurance.
The Sports Edition is based on
the base 1.5J variant, adding an all-round bodykit, a large goalpost-style rear
spoiler and 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels similar to the ones on the 1.5G –
albeit in a black rather than two-tone finish. There are also black and red
body stripes, again inspired by the race car.
Inside, the Sports Edition gets sports seats, unique
floor mats and gearknob and illuminated scuff plates, as well as amber footwell
lighting instead of the usual blue. Other than that, standard equipment should
remain identical, and include halogen reflector headlights, LED daytime running
lights, rear fog lights, keyless entry, push-button start, a radio/CD player
with Bluetooth, four speakers, dual airbags and stability control.
Power comes from the usual 1.5 litre Dual VVT-i
four-cylinder engine that produces 107 PS at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at
4,000 rpm, matched to a CVT instead of the race car’s five-speed manual
gearbox. The Sports Edition is also equipped with sports suspension that drops
the ride height by 27 mm.
