Just as the London Taxi Company transformed
officially into the London EV Company (LEVC), the new electric TX cab has also
been unveiled, with order books scheduled to open on August 1st.
To be launch next year, the cab is powered by its
eCity technology, which consists of an advanced battery electric powertrain
with a small petrol generator. LEVC says it will do 643 km total,
including 112 km with zero emissions.
The combined range of over 400 miles means that a
driver could take passengers from London to Edinburgh or Paris without needing
to stop for fuel. Among the cab's features, we count the instantly recognizable
rectangular grille and circular headlights, daytime running lights, mobile charging
points, Wi-Fi and rear-hinged passenger door with 90° opening. Also,
accessibility features include induction loops for hearing aids and contrasting
grab handles and seat edges for the partially sighted.
Alongside the new London Taxi, dubbed 'TX', the company
also unveiled its new name and brand logo, following an investment totaling
£ 325 million.
LEVC has already received its first major
international order of 225 units from the Netherlands, scheduled to be
delivered in 2018.
