Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd has officially begun sales of
the new 2017 Yamaha V-Ixion R in Indonesia at a dealership retail price
(Jakarta) of IDR 28,8 million.
The new V-Ixion R employs Yamaha R15 v3.0’s 155.1cc
single cylinder engine with liquid cooling and VVA (Variable Valve Actuation)
technology. It delivers 19.3 PS of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at
8,500 rpm. The bike uses a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch,
which lightens the clutch lever for easier operation. The bike gets a revamped
lower fairing design, and is available in three colours.
The motorcycle features a Deltabox frame with
aluminium swingarm. For suspension, the bike uses telescopic forks at the front
and monocross at the rear. Brakes include discs on both ends. The alloy wheels
are shod with 90-section rubber at the front and 130-section at the rear.
Yamaha has equipped this bike with a fully digital instrument cluster with
shift timing light. The fuel tank can hold 11 litres of juice and the bike
weighs 131 kg.
The new V-Ixion was launched in the country earlier
this year, and the V-Ixion R is the sportier variant. According to Yamaha
Motor’s 2016 survey, the Indonesian motorcycle market has a total scale of 5.6
million units, out of which approximately 10% are sports models. Yamaha plans
to tap into this market with its latest offering and is targeting youth in
their 20s.
The brand has set a sales target of 100,000 units of
the new bike, in one year of its release in Indonesia. The V-Ixion R is
manufactured and marketed by PT. Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM).
