Aprilia’s performance scooter, the Aprilia SR 150,
will be updated and launched in December, states a report from Bikewale.
According to the website, the scooter will get an
adjustable front suspension in an optional variant; the Race Edition will also
be updated with adjustable forks, but as standard. Bikewale reports there won’t
be any new colours; and that the Black-Red colour variant is the highest
selling in the country. When launched, it would be the first scooter in the
country to get adjustable front fork. Expect a premium of INR 5,000 on the
update. Currently the SR 150 is priced at INR 69,248 and the Race is priced at
INR 72,340 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The 154.8 cc single cylinder sits inside the rigid
steel frame. It generates 10.5 PS of power at 6,750 rpm and 11.4 Nm of torque
at 5,000 rpm. Currently, the scooter gets traditional telescopic fork at the
front and a single hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. For braking, the
scooter employs a 220 mm front disc and a 140 mm rear drum. The scooter rolls
on 14-inch alloys shod with 120-section tyres on both ends.
The Race Edition, a sportier take on the scooter,
gets exclusive graphics on the body and painted wheels, calliper and rear
spring. The CVT features revised gearing for faster acceleration. In a related
development, the Aprilia SR 125 was caught testing in Pune the previous month.
The launch is likely to happen later this year.
