New images of the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage have
been released, giving us the best look yet at what to expect from the
German-powered British sports car when it makes its debut later this year.
Despite the heavy black and yellow disguise – with a
bit of advertising in the mix – the next-generation Vantage prototype is
clearly wearing its production body in these latest images, as opposed to
borrowing a modified version of the larger DB11’s sheetmetal.
The
new Vantage will draw inspiration from James Bond’s DB10, which was essentially
a rebodied version of the current-generation V8 Vantage – as previewed by the
leaked patent images that surfaced last month. Up front are slim headlights and
a smaller, lower version of the company’s signature front grille, though the
Vantage has a more prominent front lip and splitter.
At the back, the slim tail-lights,
ducktail-like spoiler and rear diffuser look almost identical to the DB10.
While further details of the next-gen Vantage are yet to be revealed, it’s
likely that it will be powered by the DB11’s new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8
sourced from Mercedes-AMG – which develops 510 Hp of power and 675 Nm of torque.
Should Aston Martin choose to offer its smaller
model in a two-tier V8 and V12 family like the current version, the DB11’s 608
Hp/700 Nm 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 is also a probable second powertrain.
