Chinese brand Foton is back in Australia, with the brand kicking off its sales campaign with four models. Dropped from the Ateco Automotive portfolio earlier this year, Foton Motor Australia Ptd Ltd now operates from an address in Ashmore, Queensland, with a new website displaying its portfolio of products.

Consisting of 25 national dealers, Foton has launched offering the Tunland utility, Sauvana four-wheel drive SUV, Aumark light duty truck and the CS2 van, which will be available later this year. While pricing has been reduced in comparison to levels set by Ateco Automotive, specification levels remain unclear, with the Tunland utility starting from AUD 26,990 drive away.

Pricing for the CS2 van is yet to be revealed, but it’s expected to undercut the HiAce, which is the licensed base for the CS2 van. The Tunland always performed well as a no-nonsense workhorse and carries a 3 star ANCAP safety rating. Now with an expected lower specification and more affordable starting price, we are keen to see how the market accepts the vehicle.
