Next month, a white Porsche 993 GT2 will be
auctioned off, but in September, an arguably even more desirable example will
be offered for sale by RM Sotheby’s in London.
Painted gloss black and rolling on those iconic
five-spoke silver wheels, this 1996 GT2 was one of just 57 units ever built. In
the past 12 months, prices for 993-gen GT2s have skyrocketed. In fact, in
September 2016, a Riviera Blue one sold for a staggering US$ 2.4 million.
Limited details about this GT2 have been provided,
but the pristine paint work is bound to attract collectors. Additionally, the
interior appears to be have been well maintained throughout the car’s life and
the only obvious signs of wear are visible on the cracked leather seats.
Despite being 21 years old, the 993 GT2 is still a
blistering performance machine. It is capable of hitting 96 km/h in
3.9 seconds thanks to a fiery 3.6-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine with
444 hp at 6,000 rpm and 432 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm, and do the quarter
mile in a brisk 12.1 seconds at 188 km/h.
