The first bespoke electric car from Seat could be
dubbed the Born, if recent trademark applications are to be believed.
Auto Express has discovered that the Spanish
automaker recently filed trademark applications for Born, Born-E and E-Born,
all names based on the area of El Born, a particularly popular neighborhood of
Barcelona.
The vehicle in question will reportedly arrive in
2021 or 2022 as the last ground-up electric vehicle produced by one of the
Volkswagen Group’s four main passenger car brands. Although its expected launch
is still a number of years away, we know it will be based around VW’s MEB
electric vehicle architecture.
Before this vehicle hits the market, Seat will bring
an all-electric version of the Mii to the production line. Revealed earlier
this year in prototype guise, the zero-emission city car is very similar to the
VW e-Up! and powered by an electric motor with 81 hp and 210 Nm of torque,
allowing it to hit 100 km/h in 11.3 seconds.
