Yamaha’s upcoming quarter litre sport tourer, the
Yamaha Fazer 250 has been spied once again in India, courtesy Wheels World.
Yamaha has borrowed the LED headlamp from the FZ 25.
Air intakes flank the headlamp on both sides. It also gets LED pilot lamps
which bridges the headlamp and the fairing. The fairing extends to the top of
the headlamp into a big flyscreen. It should help reduce wind-buffeting and
ensure fatigue-free long distance riding. The instrument cluster, handlebars
and the switchgear are all from the FZ25. The front bulb-type indicators are
mounted on the fairing.
The fairing covers the engine only partially and
ends with a differently coloured engine cowl. Going by the looks, the footpeg
position seem to be the same as the one found in the FZ25 and so is the design
of the tail-section, rear wheel and exhaust. The rear tyre hugger and saree
guard have also been borrowed from its naked cousin.
The Fazer 250 will employ the same engine as found
in the FZ25. The 249cc SOHC engine with oil-cooler punches out 20.9 PS of power
at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Fuel injector feeds the fuel to
the engine, and a 5-speed gearbox takes care of the transmission duty. The fuel
tank can hold 14 litres of juice. The test mule lacks ABS. Expect the fairing
to add a few kilos and the bike will be heavier than the 148 kg (kerb) FZ25.
