The Yamaha RD350 was known to be extremely quick and
powerful in its time. The bike is treasured by enthusiasts from all over the
country, with even a decently maintained example today fetching sellers a
six-digit price.
Its retro design and punchy parallel twin two-stroke
engine gave rise to a number of custom creations. Motoexotica India, a custom
motorcycle house from Dehradun has come up with a tastefully-done scrambler
version of the RD350. Motoexotica says the bike has a heavy influence of the
SR400, but visually, it is like a smaller brother of the Yamaha SCR950.
The attention to detail is staggering, thanks to the
contrasting white-and-red paint scheme with black spoke wheels. The front and
rear fenders are carbon fibre. Motoexotica has binned all the unnecessary parts
to make this bike feel like a proper scrambler. Faithful to the scrambler
tradition, the bike gets dual-purpose tyres which wrap the spoke wheels. The
front end gets bigger wheels for better off-road handling.
The folks at Motoexotica have beautifully crafted
the dual custom exhaust with the underbelly expansion chamber. The bike gets
ample ground clearance. It helps tackle off-road paths easily. The front
features a large disc brake with a radially mounted calliper and the rear comes
with a disc brake too. The bike also gets upside down forks at the front and a
monoshock at the rear.
