Dacia held a private event in Romania for prospective customers to
get a closer look at the car and its production in Mioveni, Romania. The new
Duster will go on sale from early 2018 in Romania.
The second generation Dacia Duster (second
generation Renault Duster) takes an evolutionary step up, with respect to
design. It has a more contemporary front fascia featuring sleeker halogen
headlamps with LED DRL, bolder bumper designs with new skid plates, 17-inch
dual tone alloy wheels and redesigned roof rails.
The Duster showcased is
finished in Atacama Orange; one of the new colours available to customers. It
measures 4.3 metres long, 1.8 metres wide and offers a ground clearance of 210
mm.
Unlike the exterior, the interior has been
completely redesigned for a more contemporary look. Some of the highlights
include the four-spoke steering wheel from the facelifted Dacia range (which
has a regular horn pad), new instrument panel, new centre console housing the
familiar 7-inch MediaNav Evolution infotainment system, new piano key type
controls, three central air vents, new automatic climate control. Contrary to
what previous rumours suggested, the new Duster will not be available as a
7-seater at launch.
There are five engine options available (depending
on market): two petrol, two diesel and one LPG. The 1.6 SCe 115 and 1.2
turbocharged TCe 125 are the petrol options, while the 1.5 dCi 90 and 1.5 dCi
110 are the diesel options.
The 1.6 SCe 115 engine can also be had in a
LPG-compliant version. Transmission options include both manual and 6-speed EDC
automatic transmissions. As before, a 4WD system is also available in higher
variants.
