Jaguar has announced pricing and range details of
their updated flagship, the 2018 XJ which is set for a launch this fall. The
highlight of the 2018MY refresh is of course the new XJR575 which now offers
575 hp out of its supercharged 5.0-liter V8.
0-100 km/h comes in 4.4 seconds while the top speed is set at an adequate 300 km/h. Jaguar reckons the
new XJR575 needs 44 seconds of wide open throttle to hit its top speed from a
standstill.
To reflect the angrier character of the big XJ,
Jaguar has given it a slightly more aggressive look, including a different
front bumper, twin bonnet louvers, bigger front air intakes, fatter side sills,
a retractable rear wing and a set of 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels, among
other features.
The rest of the 2018MY XJ range has been updated
with the latest tech features, including 4G Wi-Fi capability, a larger 10-inch
touchscreen infotainment display that supports pinch and zoom, Forward Traffic
Detection, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Condition Monitor, and Autonomous Emergency
Braking with Pedestrian Detection, among others.
Customers in the US will be able to choose between
short- and long-wheelbase configurations and between rear- and all-wheel drive
for the 340 hp V6 version. Bigger V8 models are offered only with rear-wheel
drive. Long wheelbase models can be also equipped with the Premium Rear Seat
Package, which replaces the regular bench for a pair of individual ‘airline
style’ reclining seats with adjustable bolsters.
Pricing for the 2018 Jaguar XJ kicks off at US$ 75,400
for the RWD R-Sport V6 model, with the XJR575 asking for US$ 122,400. Jaguar will
begin sales of the 2018 XJ this fall.
