The 2018 KTM 250 EXC TPI enduro bike
is now on sale in Malaysia for RM 45,050, including GST. Power comes from a 249 cc single-cylinder two-stroke
fuel-injected engine – a series production first – which made its global debut
in March.
KTM claims its Transfer Port Injection (TPI) technology drastically
reduces fuel consumption, while doing away with the need to pre-mix fuel with
two-stroke oil as well as carburettor jetting adjustment. The transmission is a
six-speed gearbox with hydraulic wet clutch. Fuel capacity is nine litres,
while wet weight is 103.5 kg without fuel.
Chassis-wise, the 250 EXC TPI sports a chrome-molybdenum
steel frame with a WP Xplor 48 upside-down fork with preload adjustment in
front, and a WP Xplor PDS rear shock. Ground clearance is 370 mm with a 960 mm
seat height, while steering head angle is 63.5 degrees and wheelbase is 1,482
mm.
Brembo disc brakes front and rear measure 260 mm and
220 mm respectively, while suspension travel is 300 mm and 310 mm front and
rear, respectively. The variant you see here is the Six Days edition to
commemorate the International Six Days Enduro in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France.
