Australian pricing for the upgraded 2018 Skoda Fabia
range has been announced this week, with the revised hatch and wagon range
starting at AUD 16,890 and AUD 18,040 before on-road costs.
The price of entry for both the hatch and wagon is
up by AUD 400, with the headlining change being the previous 1.2-litre
four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine swapped out for a new 1.0-litre
turbocharged three-pot.
A duo of tunes will be offered like before, the
entry-level now getting 95 Hp – fittingly dubbed 70TSI – and the higher-output
version retaining the outgoing model’s 110 Hp power figure. However, torque for
the latter raises from 175 Nm to 200 Nm. The less-potent version is offered
exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission, while the 110 Hp model is
offered solely with a DSG automatic.
As before, equipment highlights include a rear-view
camera, front assist (30-160km/h) with city-speed autonomous emergency braking
(AEB) up to 30km/h), multi-collision brake assist and a touchscreen
infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The new
Skoda Fabia range will be hitting showrooms later this week.
