Audi has launched a pair of new Carbon Editions for
its latest RS4 and RS5 models, offering less weight and a whole lot of carbon
parts. The new Carbon Edition includes several carbon-fiber reinforced polymer
(CFRP) details, including a front spoiler, sill extensions, a diffuser insert,
door mirror housings, interior inlays as well as an exposed roof and rear
spoiler that are exclusive to the RS5 Coupe.
There is also a new set of one-piece
milled 20-inch alloy wheels that are exclusive to the Carbon Edition models and
offer a weight saving of 8 kg. All in, the Carbon Editions of the RS4
and RS5 Coupe are 80 kg and 60 kg lighter respectively than
their “normal” counterparts.
Other differences include a matt aluminum finish for
the radiator grille, the window surrounds and for the front horizontal
under-grille bar and privacy glass. Both the RS4 and RS5 Coupe Carbon Edition
also come with RS Matrix LED headlamps, a Quattro sport differential and fine
Nappa leather sports seats in black with contrast red stitching.
Power from the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 is unchanged,
at 444 hp and 600 Nm. 0-62 mph comes in 3.9 seconds in the case
of the RS5 Coupe and 4.1 seconds in the case of the RS4 Avant. Top speed is
limited to 155 mph, but tick the right option and Audi will lift the limiter to
174 mph.
Pricing for the Audi RS4 Avant and RS5 Coupe Carbon
Edition models is £ 71,625 and £ 75,400 respectively in the UK, which is £ 10,000
and £ 12,500 respectively over the standard models.
