Bajaj Auto has launched the 2017 Bajaj Platina
Comfortec (facelift) at a price of INR 45,350, ex-showroom, Delhi. Last month,
Bajaj had launched the ES Spoke variant of the Platina.
The 2017 Bajaj Platina Comfortec facelift now
features LED DRL on top of the headlight. Bajaj has also revised the commuter
motorcycle’s instrument cluster design. It has a speedometer, fuel gauge and
tell-tale lights.
The Platina draws power from a new 102 cc single
cylinder 2-valve DTS-i engine. The powerplant makes 8.2 PS of power at 7,500
rpm and 8.6 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Compared to its predecessor, the new
engine makes 0.3 PS more, and 0.26 Nm more torque at 500 rpm earlier. The
powerplant pairs with a four-speed transmission. The claimed mileage stands at
104 km/l. The motorcycle boasts of a 10,000 km oil change interval, and 5,000
km service interval.
Bajaj has designed this motorcycle to be more
comfortable than its rivals. For this purpose, the bike employs telescopic
forks at the front which is 28 percent longer compared to its rivals. The rear
double spring suspension is 22 percent longer as well. The motorcycle uses
‘Spring Soft’ foam seat for added comfort. The rear features foot pads for more
comfort and better grip. The front end gets the same 110 mm drum, but the rear
drum is 20 mm bigger, at 130 mm. The new Platina is 3 kg lighter, at 108 kg
kerb. The fuel tank is the same 11-litre unit.
