BMW has
finally released all the details on the X7 iPerformance concept, a
near-production preview of its upcoming 2018 SUV flagship model.
Offering seating for six passengers, the new X7
iPerformance concept’s interior is introducing the brand’s new direction when
it comes to luxury, blending simple lines with high-quality materials and the
latest tech features available. The production version is expected to offer
room for seven.
The exterior also reveals the new design choices BMW
will make for its new SUV range. The front end is dominated by the latest
version of the kidney grille, which now stands bigger and taller. Together with
the slim headlights, the face of the BMW X7 is indicative of what to expect
from future Bavarian SUVs.
The concept measures 5020 mm in length, 2020 mm in
width and 1800mm in height, making it 113 mm longer, 82 mm wider and 37 mm higher
than the current BMW X5, with the wheelbase being 76 mm longer, at 3010 mm.
Power comes from a plug-in hybrid powertrain,
with BMW only revealing that a petrol TwinPower engine sits at its heart and
that it offers a long driving range in its all-electric mode. Reports suggest
that the engine in question is the four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo unit that’s
also found in the 740e xDrive iPerformance.
