You might think of an automaker like BMW as
something of a monolith, but even in its vehicle-manufacturing operations, it
has numerous divisions. And they seldom if ever cross over. So you wouldn't
expect to see the M badge applied, say, to one of the company's two-wheeled
vehicles. What you see here represents a rare exception.
This isn't a motorcycle from BMW
Motorrad, but a special-edition bicycle. It's the BMW M Bike Limited Carbon
Edition, and it's made go with your high-performance four-wheeled Bimmer.
For starters, it's made of carbon fiber and
aluminum. For another, it's painted in the same shade of Marina Bay Blue
Metallic as you'd find on the new M5 sedan. You provide the power yourself, but
hydraulic disc brakes do the stopping, mounted to 28-inch wheels with
Continental tires. Only 500 examples will be made, each carrying a sticker
price of € 1,400 – or about what you'd pay for, say, an Individual paint job on
an M6.
