Maruti Suzuki this week was filming the Maruti
Celerio X’s TV commercial on a flyover. IAB reader Tanmay Gupta managed to
capture a spy shot of the car during the process from his helmet cam.
The Maruti Celerio X features an exclusive orange
body colour, black alloy wheels, black body cladding, dark roof rails and a
distinctive rear bumper with garnish designed to look like a skid plate.
According to a leaked CMVR certificate from ARAI, Maruti Suzuki will sell the
Celerio X in VXi, VXi (O), VXi AMT and VXi AMT (O), ZXi, ZXi (O), ZXi AMT and
ZXi AMT (O) configurations. This connotes that it will have features like
keyless entry, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, 60:40 split rear
seats, power windows (front & rear), CD player with Bluetooth connectivity,
four speakers, steering mounted audio controls, ABA and dual-front airbags
The Maruti Celerio measures 3,600 mm in length,
1,600 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height, and offers a ground clearance of 165
mm. The Maruti Celerio X could have a minor change in some of these figures. It
should have the same K10B 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine as the regular
variant, however. The naturally aspirated unit develops 50 kW (67.02 hp) at
6,000 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. Transmission choices will include
5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual.
The Maruti Celerio X should go on sale in the next
4-8 weeks. Its prices could start from about INR 4.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
