Daimler has released some new details about the
production version of the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept. Originally unveiled at the
Geneva Motor Show, the concept previews a high-performance four-door coupe
which will become AMG's third model after the SLS AMG and AMG GT.
Designed to "seamlessly continue the success
story of the AMG GT," the production model will be a "dynamic
fastback" that is well suited for daily driving. The company was lipped on
specifics but said the car come equipped with a large tailgate as well as a
"variable interior and luggage compartment." Mercedes says this will
give the model an excellent combination of functionality and sportiness.

confirmed the concept's hybrid powertrain is a sign of things to come. In the
future, the company will develop "segment-specific hybrids" which
have an "impressive performance gain" as well as "maximum
efficiency."
The first hybridized AMG model is expected to debut
at the Los Angeles Auto Show in the form the CLS 53. It will reportedly have a
3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 429 hp and an electric motor that
develops 67 hp. This could give the car a combined output of 496 hp.
