This little wonder is the Jinli Meili 2057, one of
the best looking LSEV’s on the the 2017 Jinan EV Show. The cabin has a teardrop shape, with huge windows
and duel tone paint. It has sharply shaped lights, big black bumpers, semi-open
front wheels, half-covered rear wheels, big mirrors and an even bigger
windshield wiper.
The Meili 2057 is manufactured by a company called
Fuijan Jinlin Automobile, based in the great city of Fuzhou in Fujian Province.
They do not have a website, only a WeChat channel. This is becoming very common,
many of these small LSEV makers ditch the open web altogether. They also make a
small 3-wheeler with a very aerodynamic design.
Meili means beautiful, 2057 stands for year far away
in the future, which it is. So together the name should be understood as
‘beautiful future’.
The interior is very good for a vehicle of this
kind. Well put together and well designed. Center stack with the aircon
controls (yes it has aircon) and a unit for the infotainment system. Steering
wheel with a black rim and a silver black center. Round air vents and a single
cup holder on the tunnel.
The Meili 2057 is powered by an
electric motor with 5.4 hp, mated to a 60 volt lead-acid battery. The company
says it has a 60 km/h top speed and a 120 kilometer range. Top speed might
sound hard to believe but curb weight is only 650 kilo, and it is seriously
aerodynamic. So perhaps is can really go that fast. Dimension size is 2350/1450/1555 mm. Price
for all this speedy pretty: 15.988 yuan or US$ 2320.
The Meili 2057 seats two. And unlike on most LSEVs
the rear door opens for easy access to the tiny luggage bay. Lights are
fashionable small.
