Royal Enfield has launched new variants of the Royal
Enfield Classic 350 and the Royal Enfield Classic 500 in India. The two bikes
come with rear disc brake as well. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 gets a new
paint finish called the Gunmetal Grey. The fuel tank, fenders and side boxes
are finished in the new colour; and the bike gets a Dark Tan seat cover. This
variant costs INR 1,59,677 on-road, Chennai.
The new variant of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 features
matte black bodywork and exhaust. The bike also comes with black spoke wheels.
The new variant is priced at INR 2,05,213, on-road Chennai.
The mechanical underpinnings of the two motorcycles
are the same as the existing ones. The Classic 350 continues with the 346 cc
single cylinder twin spark engine that’s good for 19.8 bhp of power at 5,250
rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The Classic 500 gets a 499 cc single
cylinder twin spark engine with fuel injection. It generates 27.2 bhp of power
at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The two bikes feature a
5-speed gearbox.
For suspension, the bikes get 35 mm telescopic fork
at the front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. The two variants
get disc brakes on both front and rear, a first for the Classic range. Bookings
for the two motorcycles are open from September 18 at all Royal Enfield stores
across India.
