The TVS Apache RR 310S (production TVS Akula 310)
has been spied once again, near Chennai. This time, the motorcycle is seen with
a rear tyre hugger. Apart from the single sided rear tyre hugger, the
production version of the TVS Akula 310 also gets a cover to protect the
monoshock from dirt. The bike comes with a minimalistic pillion grab rail which
is reminiscent of the one found in 2016 KTM RC 390.
Draped in matte black with red stripes, the
motorcycle shares the powerplant with the BMW G310R. The German bike draws
power from a 313 cc single cylinder, DOHC engine with liquid cooling and fuel
injection. The engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox. It develops 34 PS of power
at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. Expect the engine to be tuned
differently in the Apache to suit its dynamics.
The TVS Apache RR 310S features an all-digital
vertically-stacked instrument cluster; clip-on handlebars and a large
bubble-type windscreen. The alloy wheels are borrowed from the Beemer and are shod
with Michelin tyres. For suspension, the bike employs inverted forks at the
front with a gold finish; and a monoshock at the rear. The bike comes to a halt
using disc brakes on both ends. The ergonomics hints at its sports-touring
potential.
TVS has created a separate department, which takes
care of the export business and the Apache brand. This motorcycle also comes
under the new department, and will reportedly be launched in November, this
year. Expect the bike to cost below INR 2 lakhs, ex-showroom. In the price
segment, it will lock horns with the KTM RC 390.
