TVS Motor Company has launched the TVS Apache RTR 160 and the TVS Apache RTR 180 in the Racing Syrah matte red colour. The matte red variants are priced INR 1,000 over the standard version of the motorcycles.

Racing Syrah Matte Red is an exclusive shade with Eggshell finish, developed using a twin component thermosetting acrylic paint system with a special pigment to create a ‘Matte Clear’ process. The bikes are draped in matte red finish on the fuel tank; front fender; headlight and engine cowl; and rear bodywork.


The RTR 160 features red rim stickers while the 180 gets white rim stickers. Other than the paint scheme, the mechanical underpinnings of the two bikes are the same as the normal ones. The TVS Apache RTR 160 matte red costs INR 77,865; the rear disc variant is INR 80,194. The TVS Apache RTR 180 matte red is priced at INR 81,833. All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The ABS variant of the bike does not come in this new colour. In 2015, TVS had introduced matte blue variant for the two motorcycles.

The Apache RTR 160 employs a 159.7 cc single cylinder engine. It generates 15.2 bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and 13.1 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Its bigger brother, the RTR 180 uses a 177.4 cc single cylinder engine. It gives out 17.03 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. A 5-speed transmission does duty in the two motorcycles.


For suspension, the bikes feature telescopic fork at the front and twin inverted gas-filled MIG shock absorbers at the rear. The two motorcycles employ a 270 mm petal disc at the front and 200 mm petal disc at the rear. The RTR 160 also comes with a 130 mm rear drum.
