Lexus introduced the 2018 Lexus LS in Japan last
week, and with that, the car’s RHD version is ready now.
The 2018 Lexus LS is available in Japan in two
models: LS 500 and LS 500h. The walkaround video shows the latter. The LS 500h
is 5,235 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,450-1,460 mm tall. The fifth generation
LS doesn’t have two different wheelbase versions. The standard measurement is
3,125 mm. The full-size luxury sedan offers a ground clearance of 140 mm.
The Lexus LS 500h’s hybrid powertrain combines the
8GR-FXS petrol engine with the 2NM electric motor. The 3.5-litre Dual VVT-i
naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine puts out 299 PS and 356 Nm of torque. The
electric motor generates 180 PS and 300 Nm of torque. The sources together
develop 359 PS. The fuel economy rating (JC08 mode) is 16.4 km/h (RWD)/14.4
km/l (AWD).
Noteworthy features of the 2018 Lexus LS 500h
include 3-eye full-LED headlamps with sequential turn indicators, 20-inch alloy
wheels, full-LED tail lamps, moonroof, semi-aniline leather seats with heating
and ventilation functions, 28-way power adjustment for the front seats, 22-way
power adjustment for the rear seats, four-zone climate control system,
infotainment system with a 12.3-inch display and navigation and 23-speaker Mark
Levinson reference 3D surround sound system.
Lexus builds the GA-L platform-based all-new
Lexus LS in Tahara, Japan. Prices start at JP¥ 9,800,000 for
LS 500 and JP¥ 11,200,000 for LS 500h. The LS 500h is now
available at dealerships in Japan, while the LS 500 will follow on 18 December.
