The next-gen Maruti Ertiga test mule whose images
surfaced earlier this week has been spotted yet again. The spy picture was
captured by a Team-BHP user in Gurgaon, Haryana, close to MSIL’s manufacturing
facility.
The latest 2018 Maruti Ertiga spy picture does not
reveal anything new, however. The test mule wears very heavy camouflage showing
only the silhouette of the MPV. It has a longer rear overhang and a larger rear
quarter glass area hinting at increased space in the rear. An increase in
overall length is a possibility since the current Ertiga is already 4,296 mm
long and not bound by the 4 m length restrictions.
Based on previous spy shots, we also know that the
next gen Maruti Ertiga will get a narrower set of headlamps and multi-spoke
alloy wheels. The rear windshield is more raked than the current car. The MPV
will be based on the HEARTECT platform. It also underpins the upcoming 2018
Maruti Swift as well models currently on sale including the new Dzire, Baleno,
and the Ignis.
Suzuki’s new 1.5 L diesel that has been developed
in-house to replace the 1.3 L diesel sourced from Fiat could power the new
Ertiga. The inclusion of petrol and diesel AMT variant could also be on the
cards. The current 1.4 L K14B petrol engine may be carried over.
The 2018 Suzuki Ertiga’s arrival in Indonesia is
confirmed for the first half of 2018 as reported last month. India is likely to
get the next gen Ertiga in mid-2018.
