With bigger dimensions than the fourth-gen Golf, except length, the new generation Volkswagen Polo has arrived in the United Kingdom, where order books have already been opened.

Prices start from £ 13,855 (US$ 18,441), tax included, for the entry-level S, which benefits from standard features such as the automatic headlights with LED DRLs, Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitoring, 8-inch infotainment system with DAB radio, and air conditioning.

Go for the SE and you will have to pay at least £ 14,630 (US$ 19,473), although you get 15-inch Sassari alloy wheels, leather steering wheel, and Car-Net App Connect with an additional USB port. Next comes the Beats, from £ 15,680 (US$ 20,870), with its 'Beats' decals on the bonnet and roof, 16-inch Torsby alloy wheels, front fog lamps with cornering function, tinted rear windows, carpet mats, red velvet dash pad, and 300-watt sound system.

Prices for the SEL flavor have yet to be announced, but this version gets 16-inch Las Minas alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, Discover Navigation, dual-zone climate control, and front center armrest.

Volkswagen hasn’t announced any pricing details for the R-Line, GTI, and GTI+ either, but the former has 16-inch Sebring alloy wheels, LED taillights, R-Line exterior details, tinted rear windows, and stainless steel pedals.

The new Polo GTI comes with 17-inch Parker alloy wheels, GTI exterior styling, 15 mm lowered sports suspension, and XDS electronic differential, while the GTI+ adds tinted rear windows, LED headlights, Light and Sight pack, Active Info Display, adaptive cruise control, and keyless entry with push-button start. Depending on the selected version, the new generation Volkswagen Polo has a wide spectrum of assistance systems, such as the Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitoring, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, City Emergency Braking, and others.

Customers will have to choose between six 3- and 4-cylinder petrol engines, ranging between 65 PS  and 200 PS, and two 1.6-liter TDI diesels, rated at 80 PS and 95 PS, respectively. Again, depending on the specified flavor, the units can be mated to five- or six-speed manual gearboxes, or 6- and 7-speed DSG automatics.
