Hong Leong Yamaha Motor, the authorised distributor
of Yamaha two-wheelers in Malaysia, has launched the 2018 Yamaha Y15ZR SE GP
Edition in the country at RM 8,891 (inclusive of GST).
The Y15ZR SE GP edition was launched in celebration
of the upcoming Shell Malaysia MotoGP, which will take place from October 27 to
29, at Sepang. The bike features special Yamaha Movistar MotoGP livery. Apart
from the paint scheme, the mechanical underpinnings is the same as the standard
Y15ZR. The GP Edition is RM 530 more expensive than the standard variant and
will reach the dealerships next week. The standard version comes in Black,
Blue, and Red colours.
The Yamaha Y15ZR SE GP Edition employs a 150 cc
single cylinder SOHC engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The
powerplant produces 15.3 PS of power at 8,500 rpm and 13.8 Nm of torque at
7,000 rpm. The engine pairs with a 5-speed transmission.
For suspension, the Y15ZR uses a telescopic front
fork and a rear monoshock. It uses discs on both wheels for braking. Notable
features include LED DRL’s, LED tail light and an analogue-digital combo
cluster. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with 70-section Duro rubber at the
front and 120-section at the rear. The fuel tank can hold 4.2 litres of juice,
and the weight stands at 115 kg. The Y15ZR rivals the Benelli RFS 150i and the
Honda RS 150R in the country.
