Carberry Motorcycles has launched the Carberry
Double Barrel 1000 in India at a price of INR 7.35 lakhs, ex-factory. The
Carberry Double Barrel 1000 is homologated, and 29 motorcycles are available in
the first batch. The booking amount stands at INR 1 lakh. Delivery time ranges
from 5-10 months, depending upon how early the booking is. Carberry launched
the engine in August.
The Carberry Double Barrel 1000 makes use of the
1000 cc V-twin that’s built using two 500cc Royal Enfield engines. The
carburetted engine comes with a 5-speed gearbox and generates 52 PS of power
and 82 Nm of torque. The engine nestles inside a custom 50 mm twin downtube
frame and uses the powerplant as the stress member.
The bike comes with 35 mm telescopic front forks
with 130 mm travel; and twin gas-charged shock absorber at the rear with 5-step
adjustable preload and 80 mm of travel. The bike comes to a halt using a 280 mm
front and a 240 mm rear disc, with dual channel ABS.
Regarding service of the bike, Carberry says it can
be done with the help of a local mechanic as it shares most of the components
with Royal Enfield bikes. The company can also advise the mechanic on
techniques and procedures, or it can be returned to them for a factory build (for
Indian customers only). Otherwise, Carberry can send out a mechanic to the
customer’s place. Customer will have to bear the transportation cost. The bike
competes with the Triumph Street Twin and the Harley Davidson Iron 883 in the
segment. The fact that this motorcycle is hand-built sets it apart from the
rest.
