The TVS Apache RR 310S (production TVS Akula 310)
has been spied once again, image courtesy Dheeraj TheMotoGuy. Unlike last time,
the rear tyre hugger and pillion grab rail are absent.
The TVS Apache RR 310S’ design language conforms to
the patent design leaked in August. The spy shot shows a clear picture of the
seating position. The footpegs are slightly rear-set, but the handlebars are
not as aggressive as its chief rival, the KTM RC390. The riding position and
the sizeable bubble-type windshield can make this bike a potential sporty
tourer. The rear view mirrors are on the fairing, just like the patent design
picture.
The motorcycle shares the powerplant with the BMW
G310R. The German bike draws power from a 313 cc single cylinder, DOHC engine
with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The engine pairs with a 6-speed
gearbox. It develops 34 PS of power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 7,500
rpm. Expect the engine to be tuned differently in the Apache to suit its
dynamics.
The TVS Apache RR 310S features an all-digital
vertically-stacked instrument cluster. The alloy wheels are borrowed from the
Beemer and are shod with Michelin tyres. For suspension, the bike employs
inverted forks at the front with a gold finish; and a monoshock at the rear.
The bike comes to a halt using disc brakes on both ends.
TVS Motor Company has created a separate department,
which takes care of the export business and the Apache brand. This motorcycle
also comes under its ambit, and will reportedly be launched in November, this
year. Expect the bike to cost below INR 2 lakhs, ex-showroom. In the price
segment, it will compete with the KTM RC 390.
