What could be the production version of the TVS
Graphite has been spied testing in India for the first time. TVS showcased the
concept version of the scooter at the 2014 Auto Expo.
Spied in Karnataka, the test mule is draped with
black covering. However, the creases of the bodywork underneath the covering
suggest that the design of the scooter is more or less similar to the concept
version. It features sharp lines and angular elements on the apron, split grab
rail for the pillion, and a sleek tail light. The scooter does away with the
floor-board mounted fuel tank cap which the concept had. The engine
specifications are unknown but expect a 125cc powerplant with fuel injection.
The production version also features a bulbous exhaust.
For suspension, the scooter employs telescopic fork
at the front and single shock absorber at the rear. Brakes include a front disc
and a rear drum unit. The concept version featured an underbone chassis of
high-tensile steel. It got 30 mm telescopic suspension setup at the front; a
gas charged damper at the rear, and a dual channel dynamic ABS unit as well.
The technological innovation on the Graphite was its
AMT gearbox with paddle shifters. It used an active LED console to display
vital vehicle information, ride data and provide connectivity. The Graphite
also featured an inbuilt immobilizer and a smart electronic key. Expect more
details to surface in the coming months.
