The German car maker has launched the VW Passat in India. The Passat nameplate makes a comeback to the Indian market after an absence of almost four years. VW is offering the Passat in two trims with prices starting INR 29.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The fully loaded Highline trim is priced at INR 32.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The prices are introductory.

The sole engine option on offer is a 2.0 L TDI diesel producing 177 PS @ 3,600-4,000 rpm and Nm @ 1,500-3,500 rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed DSG. The VW Passat is based on the company’s MQB platform. It’s the same one that underpins the VW Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Skoda Superb and other products from the Volkswagen group.

As is expected of a car costing upwards of 30 lakhs, the VW Passat comes loaded with features.  The Volkswagen Passat will rival sister concern Skoda’s Superb and the Japanese duo of Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

This is the second new product launch for Volkswagen India in 2017. Earlier in May, the company launched the VW Tiguan.
