In August, the Suzuki Alivio received a facelift in
China. Now, Maruti Suzuki has started readying a facelift for its counterpart.

Heavy camouflage on the body does not let the test
mule reveal the changes. However, we do know what to expect in the new Maruti
Ciaz, on the basis of the changes to the Suzuki Alivio Pro. The 2018 Maruti
Ciaz will likely have a refreshed front fascia with a one-piece grille,
restyled bumper and new fog lamp detailing. On the sides, one can expect a set
of newly-designed 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the new Ciaz may have
tweaked tail lamp graphics, remodelled bumper and new garnish on the light reflectors.
As for the interior, Maruti Suzuki may tinker with the trim and upholstery, and
maybe upgrade the MID, but no major shifts are expected.
The Maruti Ciaz is currently available with two
engines: K14B VVT petrol and DDiS 200 diesel. The 1.4L petrol engine produces
68 kW (91.15 hp) and 130 Nm of torque. The 1.3L diesel engine develops 66 kW
(88.47 hp) and 200 Nm of torque. The SHVS mild-hybrid technology is available
only in the diesel engine model. The company has tested the new in-house
developed 1.5-litre diesel engine successfully, and it could replace the
1.3-litre diesel engine in the mid-cycle change.
Maruti Suzuki could use Auto Expo 2018 to launch the
2018 Maruti Ciaz in India. The biennial motor show will take place from 9-14
February, 2018.
