The updated 2018 Toyota Yaris is being showcased at
the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show. Toyota’s cheapest offering in UAE gets
a nip and tuck and was launched in Thailand in September this year.
The new Yaris hatchback has the same nose as the
sedan version. It features an expansive V-shape air intake with integrated LED
pilot lamps towards the upper corners. Circular fog lamps are housed in ice
hockey stick shaped black inserts. The headlamps have been reprofiled with the
lower edge tapering upwards near the new grille with body colour housing for
the Toyota insignia. At the back, the boot lid gets sheet metal changes
accompanied by new split tail lamps with horizontal LED signature.
The cabin is dominated by dark trims with silver
accents accentuating the centre console and aircon vents. The seat upholstery
gets contrast red pattern and red stitching. The steering wheel and front
centre armrest also feature red stitching.
In terms of features, the 2018 Toyota Yaris gets
manual Air conditioning, central door locking, power windows, MID, push-button
start, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The audio unit supports AM/FM, CD,
AUX, USB, and Bluetooth. There is no touchscreen on offer. Safety features
include ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorage points,
and vehicle stability control (VSC).
Powering the hatchback is a 1.5 L four-cylinder
petrol engine that has a power output of 105 hp and 14.3 kgm of torque
output. Power is sent to the front
wheels via Toyota’s Multidrive transmission.
