The guys at Nismo aren’t giving up on
the Nissan GT-R just yet. Seen making its rounds at the Nurburgring is possibly
an updated version of the GT-R Nismo, last updated in March 2016.
This one is barely any different from the
model it’s based on, which best explains the lack of camouflage wrap on the
car. What’s covered from view, however, are what appear to be vents above the
front wheel arches. These apparently lend a hand in improving aerodynamics –
likely to reduce air pressure in the wheel arches, reducing lift – but only
time will reveal their true function.
The brakes may also be upgraded, with the front pair
featuring new callipers that’s different to last year’s debutant. As for power,
the outgoing GT-R Nismo draws power from a 3.8 litre VR38DETT V6, equipped with
two GT3-spec turbochargers to churn 600 PS at 6,800 rpm and 652 Nm from 3,600
to 5,600 rpm. A slight bump in this department can be expected.
Elsewhere, the car looks to be a carry-over from
last year, at least on the visual side of things. Just so you know, the R35
GT-R is 10 years old now, but there appears to be no replacement coming in the
near future, as Nissan claims it has still not reached the current model’s full
potential.
