The 2017 EICMA show in Milan marks the introduction
of three new models for the California-based Arch Motorcycles company. The
company’s flagship KRGT-1 sporty cruiser gets updated with a host of
performance updates, and two new models—the single-sided swingarm Arch 1s and
the Arch Method 143 built with a carbon fiber chassis—have all been unveiled
for the 2018 model year.
Originally introduced in 2015, the KGRT-1 is Arch’s
flagship model. The sporty cruiser is still powered by an S&S 2,032cc
American V-Twin engine and uses the same basic steel frame with a CNC-machined
rear subframe. Changes to the 2018 KGRT-1 include the use of an Öhlins FGRT
series fork that is paired with an Arch proprietary rear shock, dual six-piston
brake calipers with ABS available as an added option, and a redesigned fuel
tank. Throw in the BST carbon fiber 5-spoke wheels, and there’s no doubt this
can handle some aggressive riding in the twisties.
The Arch 1s is the company’s first single-sided
swingarm motorcycle, which comes as an evolution of the KGRT-1. The aluminum
backbone, which houses the same 2,032 cc engine as the KGRT-1, is completely
CNC-machined as is the rear subframe. Besides aggressive geometry, a carbon
fiber tank and BST-made 7-spoke wheels add to the sporty nature of the Arch 1s.
Introduced as a “concept production motorcycle, the
Arch Method 143 is the result of the company’s very best work and high-quality
components. The combination of an ultra-unique carbon fiber mono-cell design, Suter-developed
swingarm, Arch-designed BST turbine wheels, Öhlins suspension bits and
CNC-machined bodywork makes this a stunning motorcycle to lay eyes on. Not to
mention, the engine is a 2,343cc S&S V-twin is sure to be a beast. Who
knows exactly what the Method 143 will cost, but if you’re really keen on
having one act fast because only 23 units will be produced.
