First sightings of the facelifted F46 BMW 2 Series
Gran Tourer has finally come around, after the Coupe and Convertible models
were revised in May and photos of its new camouflaged Gran Coupe and facelifted
Active Tourer siblings were provided by our spy photographers.
Seen here in M Sport guise, the seven-seater Gran
Tourer LCI (Life Cycle Impulse, BMW-speak for facelift) looks set to receive
the usual aesthetic updates, such as redesigned LED headlamps with new
hexagonal corona ring daytime running lights, as well as a redesigned front
bumper covered by plenty of cladding.
This differs from the facelifted Active Tourer,
which has been seen wearing the same bumper design as before, indicating that
Munich is looking to distance the two models aesthetically. Out back, only the
lower portion of the car is masked, hiding a revised rear valance design. Going
by BMW’s track record, the rear lamps are probably due for a change as well.
Everything else about the car remains visually the
same as before, at least according to this fresh set of pictures. Inside,
expect improvements on the infotainment system, while under the bonnet, the
Gran Tourer should receive the updated, more frugal B48 2.0 litre turbo engine
and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission from the 2017 X1, joining the more
powerful B38 1.5 litre three-pot introduced this year.
