BMW Motorrad India has launched two motorcycles- the BMW R nineT Racer and the BMW K 1600 B at the 2017 India Bike Week in Goa.

The BMW R nineT Racer is a café-racer offering from the German brand, and costs INR 17.3 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. The other bike, the BMW K 1600 B is a bagger motorcycle, which will set you back by INR 29 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. BMW offers the two motorcycles via the CBU route, and the bookings for the bikes have commenced. Deliveries will start from December 2017.

The BMW R nineT is a part of the German brand’s Heritage family. The cafe racer draws inspiration from the 1970’s motorsports, complete with BMW’s motorsports colour and the quarter fairing. The bike comes with a 1,170 cc twin cylinder boxer engine with air and oil cooling. It makes 110 PS of power at 7,750 rpm, and 116 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. A six-speed hydraulic clutch transmits the power to the rear wheel via a shaft drive. Automatic Stability Control (ASC) is optional.

Cycle parts include 43 mm telescopic front fork, and an adjustable rear monoshock. Twin 320 mm front discs and a single 265 mm rear disc handle the braking responsibilities. The brakes come with BMW Motorrad ABS as well. The fuel tank can hold 17-litres of juice and the bike weighs 221 kg, kerb. Its chief rival would be the Triumph Thruxton R.

The BMW K 1600 B is a bagger motorcycle that is ideal for munching miles on the highways with ease. The fairing and the electrically adjustable windshield complement the swooping rear that houses twin hard case panniers. The motorcycle employs a 1,649 cc in-line six-cylinder engine with liquid cooling. The powerplant generates 160 PS of power at 7,750 rpm, and 175 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm. A shaft drive transmits the power from the 6-speed transmission with hydraulic clutch. Standard fitments include heated seat and grips; Dynamic Traction Control; xenon headlamps; three-level riding modes, and cruise control.

For suspension, the motorcycle gets BMW Motorrad Duolever with central spring strut at the front; and BMW Motorrad Paralever at the rear. They come with standard dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) which provides optimum handling and riding dynamics. Brakes include 320 mm dual front and a single rear disc, both with ABS. Some of the primary competitors include Harley-Davidson Street Glide and Road Glide Special; and the bagger range from Indian motorcycles.
